What is Lens Coating?
Lens coating is the process of adding a thin layer of protection to optical lenses to improve their durability, efficiency, and performance. Coatings can enhance a lens’s optical precision, reduce scratches, lessen glare, and improve UV protection.
TOG offers quality lens coating services that guarantee your customers have an enjoyable visual experience. Our independent state-of-the-art facility in Thailand adopts stringent quality control processes and a speedy in-house manufacturing process, so you get high-quality coatings efficiently delivered.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the Difference Between Hard-Multicoated (HMC) and Zaphire-SX?
Both Hard-Multicoated (HMC) and Zaphire-SX coatings can enhance lens durability and make them easier to clean, but they have different water-repellent and anti-static properties.
- Hard-Multicoated (HMC): A hydrophobic (water-repellent) coating applied to the lens surface. It works similarly to water droplets falling on a lotus leaf, as they don’t stick but instead form round beads that roll off easily. This not only helps prevent water spots but also makes it harder for dirt and dust to cling to the lens, making cleaning much easier.
- Zaphire-SX: A superhydrophobic coating with an additional anti-static feature. It has better water repellent features, causing droplets to lift off the lens surface even more effectively than a standard hydrophobic coating. The anti-static property also prevents dust from sticking, making the lenses easier to clean and maintain.
If you’re looking for better water and dust resistance with effortless cleaning, Zaphire-SX is the superior coat. However, HMC still provides excellent water repellence and is easier to clean for everyday use.
What’s the difference between UV400, Zaphire-Nanoblue, and Bluloc™?
Both UV400 and Bluloc™ block UV rays using an in-mass UV-blocking material that absorbs light, effectively blocking over 70% of blue light. UV400 protects against UV-A and UV-B rays up to 400nm, while Bluloc™ protects up to 420nm.
Zaphire-Nanoblue, on the other hand, blocks UV rays through reflection in the anti-reflection layer, which results in blocking around 30% of blue light. We believe that Bluloc™ offers the best performance in terms of blocking blue light.
